Trust for Public Land

The Trust for Public Land is the only national nonprofit working exclusively to preserve land for public enjoyment and to improve the health and quality of life in American communities. The South Carolina Office of the Trust for Public Land (TPL) received grant support from the Community Foundation for a plan that will outline the vision, action steps, and fund development strategies aimed at preserving Hilton Head Island's Mitchelville, a nationally significant Civil War historic site as well as a freed slave community and the first community developed on Hilton Head Island.
