Community Foundation Elects New Officers

Awards grant at recent meeting

September 1, 2009 HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC -- New officers have been elected to the board of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, Inc.

Officers of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry elected for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2009 are: Wade J. Webster, Chairman; Ernst Bruderer, Vice Chairman; and Nathaniel B.P. Jones, Treasurer.

Nearing its 15th anniversary, the Community Foundation and its more than 200 funds have provided more than $28 million in grants and scholarships to our local community and beyond. The most recent was a grant awarded July 17, in the amount of $24,500, to Volunteers in Medicine Clinic for a diagnostic testing program. Tests will be utilized for screening, to identify risk factors for disease, to detect occult (present in amounts too small to be visible) disease, or to confirm a diagnosis. As health care expenditures continue to increase, diagnostic testing identifies the possibility of chronic or serious disease and enables the application of prevention, education, and treatment in a potential earlier stage.
