Jasper Community Fund Established at the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry to Support Community Needs

Community Foundation Awards a $30,000 Matching Grant to Grow Fund.

September 28, 2009 -- The Jasper Community Fund has been created at the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry to support current and future community needs and opportunities in this rapidly growing region.

"The recent and continuing development of the Jasper County area is quite phenomenal," said Denise Spencer, President and CEO of the Community Foundation. "We have all experienced the impact of this in the form of changing demographics with expanding needs. It is the goal of the newly-created Jasper Community Fund to help meet those needs."

To encourage the growth and sustainability of the fund, the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry recently voted to award a matching grant to the Jasper Community Fund in the amount of $30,000. When matched successfully, it will provide an additional $60,000 to the fund.

Community leaders from Jasper County with the skills and commitment to be strategic and sensible with these charitable dollars will comprise the Advisory Council for the fund. Grantmaking will not commence immediately as fundraising for this initiative has just begun.

The Jasper Community Fund is a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. For more information, please contact Emmy Rooney, VP for Development and Donor Services at 843.681.9100.
