Why Support the Community Foundation's Operating Fund?

The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry is one of the largest grantmakers in the Lowcountry, distributing nearly $40 million to hundreds of nonprofits since its inception in 1994. By serving as a vehicle for philanthropic vision and careful tax planning, the Community Foundation enables donors to join other donors to achieve a greater impact.

There's a common thread that runs through the more than 200 funds at the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry: the goal of improving life - in the Lowcountry and beyond - through informed charitable giving. Though our funds are as diverse as the region itself, they spring from the shared concern and generosity of hundreds of donors who feel keenly about their community and its residents.
