Community Foundation of the Lowcountry

De Gullah Creation Gallery

De Creations Gallery provides jobs for low income residents and business opportunities for local Gullah artisans. Also, through the work of these artisans, De Gullah Creations is able to preserve and promote the Gullah culture. De Gullah Creations houses original art works from local/Lowcountry artisans who have honed their skills under the watchful eyes and steady hands of several generations of ancestors. The proceeds from the sales are used to fund community projects. The computer will be used to track inventory and sales and create flyers and other marketing materials for the gallery. De Gullah Creations was acquired by HHINCA and the four Property Owners Associations last August 2007 because of its potential to fund community projects.

Why this connection makes a difference:
This computer will replace an outdated, used computer that was donated two years ago. The current computer is unable to handle the software that will allow us to adequately track our inventory and sales. This will make a difference because it will allow us to more efficiently manage the De Gullah Creation Gallery. We will be able to monitor inventory and sales more efficiently resulting in a reduction in lost merchandise. As a result, De Gullah Creations will be able to increase profits and thereby provide more funding for community projects.

Cost: $1,000
